Our Leaders
The Steering Committee, composed entirely of parents, makes decisions about the the strategic direction of the organization. The Steering Committee functions as the CT Parent Power Board of Directors.
Tawana Bourne -- Middletown
Tawana has served as the CT Parent Power Early Education Co-chair and worked to create and distribute the 2009 CTPP survey. She is pursuing her B.S. at Charter Oak State College with a concentration in organizational leadership and criminal justice. Tawana attended the National Weeklong Leadership Training Program for Community Organizing and founded Healthy Home Healthy Child organization in Middletown. She is the mother of two young boys.

Maria Cordero-- Meriden
Maria currently serves on the CT Parent Power Steering Committee and the the CT Parent Health Care Committee. Maria is a graduate of the PLTI program and attended the National Weeklong Leadership Training Program for Community Organizing. Maria lives in Meriden and has five children.
Ellen Fisk -- Meriden
Ellen currently serves on the CT Parent Power Steering Committee and was a founding member of the the CT Parent Power School Committee. In this position, she helped set up ground rules, make decisions about legislative priorities, created agendas for meetings among other tasks. Ellen is a resident of Meriden, CT and is the mother of one 18-year-old son.
George Hensinger -- Norwalk
George is a founding member of CT Parent Power and currently serves as Chair of the Steering Committee. He has also served as co-chair of the Early Care and Education Committee and jointly represents CTPP at the Early Childhood Alliance. George is a member of the Norwalk Early Childhood Council, a graduate of PLTI, a preschool teacher and attended the National Weeklong Leadership Training Program for Community Organizing. He is a retired Information Systems Analyst and has 2 children and 5 grandchildren.
Beverly Lawrence -- Middletown
Beverly currently serves on the CT Parent Power Steering Committee, the CT Parent Power Schools Committee and the Early Care and Education Committee. Beverly is an active parent leader in her own community of Middletown, CT and is a graduate of PLTI. She also attended the National Weeklong Leadership Training Program for Community Organizing. Beverly has three children ages 19, 8, and 5.
Robin Puchala -- New Britain 
Robin currently serves as the CT Parent Power Schools Committee Chairperson and Delegate from New Britain. In this position she advocated for the "Achievement Gap" bill and other 2009 legislation. A former AmeriCorps member and Team Leader, Robin is a graduate of both PLTI and PARENT SEE and recently attended the Weeklong Leadership Training Program (WLT) for Community Organizing and Facilitative Leadership Training. Robin is the mother of one adult daughter and three grandchildren.
