Making Quality Health Care Affordable for Everyone in Connecticut
The CT Parent Power Health Care team works for quality, affordable health care for everyone in Connecticut.
We work with the Universal Health Care Foundation, the healthcare4every1 campaign, and a multitude of Connecticut organizations to unite as many parents and community leaders in support of this goal--that every CT resident have quality affordable health care. Join the healthcare4every1 campaign.
Supporting common-sense improvements to the HUSKY program
In addition to this broader reform work, we work on protecting and expanding the rights of Connecticut families served by public health insurance programs like HUSKY, which offers comprehensive health coverage to one in five of Connecticut's children and thousands of parents, pregnant women and relatives caring for children.
We also work to support the development HUSKY Primary Care, our state's Primary Care Case Management (PCCM) system, based on the patient-centered medical home model. It is built on delivering care through a team of providers and giving patients the tools and support they need to keep themselves healthy.
Thirty other states successfully use PCCM to run their Medicaid managed care programs. In those states, both providers and patients are generally more satisfied with PCCM programs than with traditional HMOs and health outcomes are improved. PCCM reduces HUSKY administrative burdens and give providers and patients more control over medical decision-making.
