The Big Picture
We all know that something is wrong with the way we fund and operate our schools. The United States spends more per child than any other country, but our school performance lags behind two-thirds of the developed world. At the same time, Connecticut unfairly burdens our local property taxes with more than its fair share of supporting our local schools. Read more about CT Parent Power's take on CT's education system.
What You Can Do
Connecticut’s parents are taxpayers, voters, and “consumers” of educational system. We’re also our children’s first and most important teachers. Research from the best institutions in the country demonstrates that schools perform better when parents are involved. Being involved includes many activities-- participating in your child's learning at home, attending school board meetings, or speaking with your legislator about the importance of programs available to school-age children.
CT Parent Power is building a base of active, informed parents that can make a difference at the state and local level. Read more about our current events and actions.
